Product Overview

Configuration and roll out of Metro networks

today is a complex, time-intensive, and costly

process involving many departments, skills,

and systems. Without easy-to-use manage-

ment tools, service provider operational costs

can increase exponentially with network

growth. The challenge for service providers

is to deploy rapid provisioning and SLA

monitoring tools to activate metro services

and unleash the revenue potential. RapidOS

Management Center is a comprehensive

carrier-class software solution providing a

full suite of configuration and monitoring

tools that aid rapid deployment and reduce

maintenance overheads through faster fault

isolation and resolution. It is a strategic

solution that brings a Telecommunication

Network Management (TNM)-based architec-

ture to the management of metro services.

• The RapidOS Management Center is

supported on standard Solaris, Windows,

or Linux platforms. It is shipped with

multiple modules including the RapidOS

Element Management System (EMS)

software, RapidOS Resilient Server

solution, and RapidOS OSS Mediator.

RapidOS EMS is an industry standard

solution with Fault, Configuration,

Accounting, and Security (FCAPS)

features that supports the management

of Riverstone RS metro routers.

• RapidOS OSS Mediator is the OSS

interface layer for the RapidOS

Management Center. It supports ITU

and ATM forum standard-based CORBA

and EJB API for OSS integration.

The Riverstone RapidOS Management

Center is designed to enable faster service

activation, improve network availability, and

reduce operational costs. Riverstone's

Management Center consists of RapidOS

EMS for remote element management,

RapidOS Resilient Server for scaling, and

RapidOS OSS Mediator as the OSS

interface layer for seamless integration.

Riverstone's solution provides service

activation, accurate discovery, and status

monitoring of Layer 2 and Layer 3 network

technologies, and performs root-cause

analysis of network problems, leveraging

the discovery functionality.
